Cranial Sacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy focuses on gently removing restrictions in the connective tissue in the body. It is a form of gentle massage using soft, slow movements to restore balance and relaxation and optimize the body’s ability to heal itself.

The craniosacral system is located within the cranium and spinal column and includes the cerebral membranes and fluid that envelop and nourish the brain and spinal cord.  Within the system the amount of craniosacral fluid fluctuates. The resulting differences in pressure cause the rhythmic movement of the cerebral membrane and the movements of the skull bones. During a treatment the therapist monitors the craniosacral rhythm and identifies areas of obstruction and stress in the body. The therapist will then assist the natural movement and release of restrictions and support the body to self correct.

A typical craniosacral treatment lasts between 30 minutes and an hour and is done with the guest lying fully clothed on a massage table. Craniosacral techniques can also be included in massage.
